GCSE IDENTITY - UMA ALMOND

Consolidating Ideas from each artist
Final Piece Ideas Board:

For my final piece, I have first of all created a mood board full of ideas for my next steps. I will be experimenting with different physical final outcomes to explore my work with collage. Outcomes such as creating a hanging segmented face that will hang from the ceiling. This corelates to my most recent experimentation with collaging the face. In similarity with Angrette Soltau, I will be incorporating and experimenting with string and black thread.
Through this project on identity I have explored the subtopic on hidden identity, on how artist's use different objects to hide the beauty underneath. As my overarching topic throughout this project was hidden identity, I have found artists who get creative with what or who they are hiding. I will pull themes of collaging the face with other faces from all three of my artists. I will use Soltau's mediums in using thread/ string. I will be using Metra-Jeanson's use of covering parts of the face with other faces by mixing and collaging each portrait together. Finally, I will be using Thecuadro's methods of layering different photographs on top of one another by gradually hanging each segment to the ceiling with leaving gaps. I have attached different highlights of success within each artist to draw inspiration within my next photoshoot outcome.
Consolidating Artist's:

Metra - Jeanson
Whilst working from Metra-Jeanson's inspiration, I was able to create some interesting, abstracted forms of portraits. To evaluate, Metra Jeanson argues the idea of 'what is beauty' and how in todays society, its perception of this "idea" of beauty has been distorted. I think experimenting with this hidden identity within their work allowed me to gage what I wanted to further dive into with this personal project.
Ideas:
-hiddden features
-abstracted faces- create inhuman portraits
- artificial feature/face

Angrette Soltau

When working on my page inspired by Angrette Solta, I explored themes of pain and distortion. Through her use of mixed media, using thread I created collages faces, making almost monster- looking portrait of the face. I experimented on the use of different objects and animals further exploring this Frankenstein esc theme in her work.
Ideas from working on Angrette Soltau:
-usng string/ thread - possibly mixed media development
- using different object to hide the or parts of the face.
-broadcasting the idea of pain and suffering through the hidden parts of the face.

Pablo Thecuadro
In using inspiration from Pablo Thecuadro, I was able to further explore the theme of collaging. His work is souly surrounded by this method of layering and I think this concept is something that is seem repeatedly in my personal project, and what I wanted to use within my final pieces. His work explores the idea of distorting images and layering/ collaging them together.
Ideas evaluated from his inspiration into my work:
- collages/ layering images on top of each other.
- curvy lines and circular shapes
portraits of the face and body.
