Nick Francher is a famous
photographer who specializes in
dramatic lighting. He often incorporates bold colors and
experimental camera techniques. However recently nick
has explored the wonderful idea of incorporating honey within his art. For
instance Nick experiments with honey and oil by using a mirror and layering it with a generous amount of the substance and having it set on top of the mirror before having his model stand directly in front to capture images. He also uses many experimental techjniques to add texture to his photos. For example he will blot the honey with his fingers to add raised areas. The reflection from the honey can have an extreme effect which will make the face look distorted in an elegant sort of way.
Nick's artwork has a very vibrant colorful bold look to it. For instance the lips from the model are not dull they are bright red and the models makeup is very natural with bright pops of color. If its not a bright red lip its bright red blush. I admire the colors within Francher's work as they are gorgeously bright and add a sense of wow and vibrancy in a strangely subtle way.
I can simply tell that Francher's work is edited with a high contrast and brightness in order to have this sort of sophisticated bold color look.
However Francher's black and white series is truly fascinating. Francher has edited his images to have a clean look. The photos he edited are not too grey but are not too black and white it is almost as if he has edited it in a spectacular way were it is surprisingly dead in the middle of the both.
Nick Francher's art portrays the idea of hidden identity due to the fact that the honey on top of the transparent piece of glass hides the identity of the model therefore furthering the idea behind hidden identity. This creates a sort of dignified look throughout his artwork which I myself truly admire and cant wat to explore his work further to make it my own.

I have captured my images  by experimenting with different substances to drape on top. I found that honey was too thick and not runny enough for it to work so I then came to a decision with the idea of using hand sanitizer. In my opinion i believe the hand sanitizer worked brilliantly. I then captured these photos by considering the way Francher incorporates both portraits and close up angles and applying them to my work. While incorporating Franchers compositions i decided to also include hands within each pose. I also decided that a bright red lipstick to pop when I increase the contrast in my editing will be an excellent touch.

Developments in the style of Nick Francher

I have developed my images by increasing the exposure to have that high key lighting and then decreasing the brightness so that it is not blinding. In addition to this i decided to increase the contrast to achieve a similar look to Nicks art. As well as increasing the contrast i increased the vibrancy to also achieve that perfect clean vibrant piece of photography. Finally i attempted with incorporating a color lookup filter however, unfortunately I was not successful in this editing technique as i felt it strayed from the path of Nick Francher's art into a new dimension.

Black and White Developments in the style of Nick Francher

I have developed my images by firstly turning them black and white and increasing the contrast and decreasing the brightness to have a sense of both black and white yet not dull and grey. In addition to that I then played around with the curve so I could achieve all the angles of my image at the perfect shade of black and white where it is not to grey yet still quite light, similar to Nick's images. I would then return to the brightness and increase it by a small amount. Finally to end my editing journey i then would draw with the burn tool so i can have parts of the edit in low key lighting.

Further developments in the style of Nick Francher experimenting with color and mirroring

I have further developed my edits by adding many captivating techniques such as mirroring them and incorporating color. I have  incorporated color by editing with a color lookup filter alternating between futuristic bleak and horror blue to edit upon my edits. In addition to this i would increase the canvas size and mirror three or two on to one canvas. I think this worked really well as I love the color and the three in a row of similar yet different photos.

I have captured my images by putting hand sanitizer over a dish and putting it in front of my models face. I then considered the composition throught Nick's work and incorporated close angled images and instructing my model to incorporate her hands worked brilliantly. I have also incorporated the idea of hidden identity as her face is blurred due to the sanitizer. Finally in order to incorporate my low key I had a black sheet layered behind my model so that the this photoshoot was taken in low key lighting.

Redraft Developments in the style of Nick Francher

I have developed my edits by adding a color lookup filter and decreasing the brightness a small amount and increasing the contrast by a lot. I would then play around with the curve by having some parts increased and other parts of the curve decreased. I would then decrease the opacity so my models features were still visible for viewers. My main challenge of my photoshoot was to edit them in a certain way where the lighting in the images was bright yet still had a hint of low key lighting.

Redraft Black and White Developments in the style of Nick Francher

vgI have developed my edits by turning them black and white and increasing the contrast while decreasing the brightness. I have also played around the curve to get a similar look to Francher's work by having my developments be vibrant rather than grey. My main challenge of my edits was too edit them black and white rather than grey. It was too have the highlights in the photo pop against the black and white. I also drew with the burn tool in order to have the backgro     und aspects of the photo invisible.

Further developments in the style of Nick Francher experimenting with color and mirrioing

I have further developed my edits by adding color and mirrioring them. In order to complete this I had to search up colors overlay them on top of my edits and then double expose them together. To mirror my edits I would increase the canvas side and copy and paste my edits side by side three in a row as that is what Nick Francher portrays within his work.

Overall highlighting succsess

development 1.jpg

In my opinion I believe my overall successful piece of artwork throughout the whole of Nick Francher is this image. I believe this because the editing in this edit is the most similar to Nick's art. I edited this edit by increasing the contrast and rather than increasing the brightness I decided to play with the curve as I thought that would be more successful with my time. I also incorporated a color lookup filter so I could have that very heavily saturated vibrant look. Once i found the perfect filter i would edit around the filter so it could look perfect. In my opinion I believe this is my most successful work due to is editing.
