CONTACT SHEET

For these photos I used long exposure between 3 and 15 seconds to capture effective light movement of the fireworks. In the photos I aimed to capture images containing more than one subject to capture multiple shapes that I could eventually cut out if unsuccessful when editing. I found these photos were very successful in that they caught a diverse amount of colour. Another success was that they captured enough light to create a significantly bright subject. However, this aspect of the images was not consistent throughout the photos making some less successful. Additionally, I changed the aspect of the images meaning some were captured to close up, causing some detail to be lower in certain images. If I were to re-take the images I would use very similar technique´s to this photoshoot, however I would Have taken more photos with the lense being open for a shorter amount of time to capture more photos with different shapes. Overall, I found the technical parts of the images such as the exposure, highlights, contrast and ISO very successful.

DEVELOPMENTS

I used adobe photoshoot to edit the photos above and used multiple layers and colour corrections to edit the images above. For these developments I started by changing the contrast and brightness for a completely black background in all the images. I then used the burn tool to remove any smoke or light from the background that couldn´t be removed through the contrast. After that I used hue corrections to achieve the correct saturations and hue´s in the image. I then flattened the image and duplicated it, changing the hue on the original. I chose to use both ends of the hue editing corrections to achieve the most diverse change. I used the erase tool after lightening the overlay image to rub out half of the image to create the effect of a changing tone throughout the photos.
I found the colour corrections and exposure of the images successful across the images as I was able to capture a diverse amount of colour and a completely black background. One aspect I found in the raw images was that there were to many subjects in the images to use the full image meaning I had to crop most raw images including multiple subjects. Overall I found these developments successful and capaple of being used for black and white developments.

B&W DEVELOPMENTS

I used Adobe photoshoot to edit my original developments B&W. To edit these photo´s I changed the lighting and contrast in some images and used the B&W tool. I then used the burn tool as some levels of light were changed meaning I needed to lower the lighting for a fully pitch black background. I found that these images were more successful I showing the style of Gjon Mili as he also captured long exposure images in B&W. Additionally, they keep the abstract shape of the original fireworks making them appear similarly abstract to Gjon Mili´s images including Pablo Picaso´s light drawings
FURTHER DEVELOPMENTS
For these photos I used the same photos as I used for my B&W developments however I changed the aim of the photos as I kept the subject centred with a fully Black background surrounding the light. I also wanted to change the original shape of the image and create a symmetrical appearance in the image.
I was happy with the outcome due to how they appeared being very pleasing. What made the B&W more successful than with colour was that it further helped with the theme of symmetry, which would not look as good if the images had colour. Additionally, the images would have to much colour, which would be overwhelming and look un-clear if they were in colour.
