FINAL PIECE PLANNING

IDEA 1:

My first Idea for my final piece would be making a GIF or presenting these images printed out. I found these images were the most successful images I had taken for my independent project in the style of Gjon Mili and I was happy with the outcome of The B&W and colour in these images. A possible idea for the image on the left would be making a GIF out of it and adding colour or more of that similar shape to create a GIF/video that would appear with a combination of my independent study images for Gjon Mili and Janne Parviainen. For the center and right image I visually found them to be some of the best image I had taken however there are not many aspects I can change about them for a further developing idea for a final piece. therefore I could only print them out as they are now for a final piece. Overall, I was happy with the outcome of these images and I could possibly develop them more to be a Final Piece for my Fantastic and Strange project in the style of Gjon Mili

IDEA 1: 3D Images

These were 3d images that I had cropped from my Gjon Mili images. I experimented with the idea of making the images shown in idea one and from my Gjon Mili page, 3D. I used photoshop 3-dimensional tool to make the images into a sphere and then adjusted the images by adding multiple of the 3D aspects for this outcome. First I used a black image with no aspects other than its black colour and went to 3D then mesh, new layer, sphere. I added the environment layer and made it the same image I wanted to edit (before making the image 3D I made the image I wanted to edit a flat background layer). Then I changed the black sphere´s shine and reflection so that the environment image would be visible. I then went to current view and swapped it with the side-view. I then went to environment to edit the image on the sphere before I flattened it. Once I flattened the image it was back to a 2-D view where I cropped the image. I then made different adjustments such as the colour and the contrast and then exported the image.

IDEA 2 :

My second Idea for my final piece was to develop further on my image for Janne Parviainen and create multiple images in this style or make a GIF out of the current image as it is or developed further. I could make the gif in multiple colour or explore with light and lighting the room up and then having the lamp switch on at the end. Another concept that was more time-consuming, however possible was time-lapse and making a room with a moving source of light such as a shape of a person sitting down or turning on the light. However, the main idea for was making a collection of GIF´s.  One experimenting with colour, one with light and the last with motion or a combination of light/colour and motion (a combination of two GIF´s).

IDEA 2 : GIF

I edited these images using Alight Motion by using key frames to quickly change the hue without editing the image separately. I also added the image with and without the lamp so that it would only appear at the end. I used the brightness adjust tool on the image at the start and the lamp. For the lap I used graphs so that it would appear as if it was turned on and the transition of its low light to normal light was smoother. I found that this GIF appeared well as a GIF for Janne Parviainen but it was not a development I would want to use for my final piece as I think it does not represent  a combination of Gjon Mili (my main artist/focus) and Janne Parviainen.

IDEA 3 :

My third idea was to create a video for my final piece using a light source and recording it with my camera/phone so that it was a video of a moving light source. I would then move this video to premiere pro or adobe after affects where I can edit it, so that the light is in some way long-exposed so that it appears in a certain shape for a period of time. This would use echo, light and brightness effects in Adobe. For this idea I think the final idea would be more successful, if done well, as it is a better combination of Gjon Mili and Janne Parviainen who are the two main focus´s for my final piece idea´s.

RAW VIDEO

I captured this video as a normal video at 25fps. I captured it using a Canon EOS M100. I used my phone light to show the trail of light in the video. I will edit this video on Premiere pro so that the trail of light can appear as if long exposed in the style of Gjon Mili and Janne Parviainen.

EDITED

I edited this video on Adobe Premiere Pro using a video of a light trail at 25fps. For the editing of the video I used the echo effect and added frames by adjusting the speed and frames per second in the video to 60fps. This would help to show more movement in the video. I also made the video into 'twixtor' so that the frame per second change appeared better and more smooth. I also adjusted the colour to appear in a tone that would add less grain to the wall, however for the final piece I would move this video to Alight-Motion so that I could add a shape with a black colour to block the light reflecting on objects in the room.
