Unit 2 : Identity
Linda Morrow

Linda Morrow is a retired College English Professor that takes beautiful photos of nature and flowers and has tons of series based on different techniques and photos of flowers. Linda has embraced her photography through a lifetime of poetry, words-novels and stories that built up her images that she took. I picked out this photo rom all her works because I think this is really cool and it looks like an x-ray because of the double exposure. This effect makes it look really beautiful. This photo looks really captivating and interesting and the contrast between the background and the white, opaque flower makes this photo very impressive and eye catching. The colour and tone in my opinion looks very warm and not so vibrant but in some aspects it makes this picture seem more calm and soothing to my eyes. I would describe this photo as surreal and idiosyncratic since its very unique and individual from other works. I looks really fascinating. The photo and colour of the flower is very bright and intense but the background is very plan which shows the difference in colour. The negative spacing in this photo is very intelligently taken advantage of as it makes the flower stand out more. The photographer bases her work on Zen and finds peace in this. She likes to sit in a dark room and take pictures of flowers with the shutter on and experiments with multiple exposures. Even though I believe many people see this picture to be dull and muted, the photographer only believes that it will bring smile to peoples face and that the picture has connotations to happiness. When I first saw this photo, I also thought it was supposed to be dull but looking at this in more detail I can see that Linda's intentions were to make it look bright, soft and relaxing.
This photo capture by Morrow is probably another one of my favourites since it was the most eye catching. The colour of the flower is very warm and it has a tint of a very faint dark orange. The negative space on this picture is also taken to advantage and makes the photo more interesting and a little abstract. The lighting in this is tungsten as the camera flash emits heat and produces a warmer outcome of the photo itself which looks like a photo filter. When I capture my own photos, I will use photo filter and experiment with gradient maps when I am editing. Not only are these photos good in visual but they were very well made conceptually. I had a lot of ideas and visions of my future photo shoots and Linda has inspired me to take my time in taking photos so that I can take in every detail of a subject. I also am inspired to take more macro photos.

For Linda Morrow I used and tried many techniques and different ways of making my work similar to hers. I experimented a lot with the photos and by experimenting I also got an idea for my further developments which was very helpful.
For this set of my first developments I decided to take my photo and select and paste over it so there is two of the same photos. Next I decided to select and make one of the copies bigger and slightly move it so that I can double expose the layers.
After that I flattened the images and made it black and white. When I made the layer black and white I also turned down the opacity so that I could still see the colour of the flower. Next I double exposed the layer on top to

I think this photoshoot went exceptional. I like all of my photos and honestly think only one or two of them were faulty. I have great confidence that I can edit this photo in the style of Linda Morrow. The bits that went well in the shoot was that I used artificial lighting which I am very pleased with and I did not use natural lighting even though it was originally my plan to use both. If I were to do a re-shoot I would definitely bring in more unique flowers so I have a variety to edit. I particularly liked the roses and how they were captured. It looks really well presented and you can see the details vey explicitly. Some of the pictures I took were a little under exposed. One or two were a bit blurry and out of focus. Overall I think this shoot was very consistent and went exceptional. Not only was it exceptional but it was also very fun.

I took my previous edited pictures and mirrored them to create a this cool effect. By mirroring I can show that I can develop the images further and have more understanding.

For my redraft shoot I mainly just changed the flowers. But for this shoot I don't think it was as good as my first shoot. A lot of things changed in this shoot. I used camera lighting to
make the flowers more defined. I knew hat natural lighting wouldn't work since I did a lot of trial and errors. I also experimented with different photo modes on my phone. I think when I'm editing the photos I'm going to burn the stems out so it looks very well done. The images that weren't circled were mostly similar looking ones but some of them lacked the lighting I needed they were too dark and you couldn't see the details of the flower. When I'm editing the pictures its gonna be hard to make some of them different even though the positions were changed for some of them they might look the same once I cut of the stem part. If I did a reshoot I would have changed the lighting and I would have also took multiple pictures with a variety of flowers.

For my developments, I copied and pasted the picture and then double exposed them over the same one. Then I used the photo filter to make the colour pop out. I also put the flower in the middle of the picture to add negative space and then used the burn tool to make the background dark so it contrasts with the colour of the flower.
