Final Piece Plan & Ideas

For my final piece i have been thinking of many ideas that relate to my 3 artists that i have worked and looked at so far for my portfolio. I have looked and thought of two ideas i could experiment with as my final piece for my Identity project. My first idea is more of a simple DIY home idea, where i will be gathering cotton canvas fabric some wood sticks and some stings to be able to create a hanging images with fabric used as the frame itself. This idea is fairly simple yet it shows that I have thought about what I want to do for my final piece. As well as that this idea is a very strong one as it shows and relates to my 3 artists that I have worked with which brings back the whole fabric idea into my final piece. My second idea for my final piece is projecting my images on a set of hung up thin see through fabrics in the style of Bill viola's most known photographs. This idea is more less developed as I am experimenting with one of my known artists ideas already. My third idea is more of a simple and direct choice of creating collages with images I have been able to cre and edit I have mainly liked my first idea as I believe it is a much better solution and the end result is much more efficient. As well as that I believe that this idea is more efficient because it shows my development throughout my course of work and my artists. This Idea 1 is incorporating the idea I have had throughout my 3 artists as I have continuously work alongside fabric.

Idea 1 - Printing images onto hanging fabrics

My First idea for my final piece for this identity project is to print out my images using fabric transfer paper in able to do so, I will get a range of my different images i have captured (will be using my most successful images from each photo shoots or artists I have done or looked at in this portfolio).

I believe that this idea is very simple yet it is very idealistic and can be close to the heart as it's known that decor can be used to express a persons inner self which is why I've chosen this for my first idea as I believe that I find this very unique and decorative and can be part of a collection or even an individual decorative piece. This was my first initial idea to do as my final piece. As it relates to what I've looked at and what I've worked with in the process of my portfolio.

Step 1: For this idea I had to order some 5.0 fabric transfer paper in order to print on my images onto the pieces of cotton canvas fabric.

Step 2: after ordering the transfer paper and getting it I will have to order some of the cotton canvas fabric in order to complete this idea.

Step 3: When all fabrics and equipment are available i will begin the process of transferring my printed images from my fabric transfer paper to my cotton pieces. (They will be in the sizes of A4 images in order to be accessible and not too over the board.

Step 4: I will sew a thin stick of wood to the end of the pieces of each fabric to be able to hang up my final piece ideas. As well as using a piece of thick strong to be able to hang the fabric and wood from a nail on the wall.

Step 5: I will repeat the the ironing of the transfer paper to the fabrics until i find the best combination of images of even the best images to have printed out to use for my ideas to make a strong eye catching final piece for identity.

I will experiment with different angels and shapes my images could be positioned in. Also will experiment with how it could be formatted onto one A4 transfer paper to be able to be transferred into my fabrics.I believe this idea is strong as it incorporates all my 3 artists ideas and works whilst incorporating my own thoughts and ideas to create a final outcome for my Hidden Truth identity unit.

Idea 2 - Projection with fabrics

For my 2nd idea I have looked more closely to the work of Bill Viola the second artist that I have looked at in my identity portfolio as it also relates to all my artists in different ways. This final piece will look Very complicated with the amount of layers of fabric it will require to use. This final piece idea is related to my artists as it relates to both ideas of using fabric and projection. The size of this would be massive sheets of thin fabric that is see through to allow the projection to shine through to the other side of the fabric lane.

Why I didn't choose this idea for my final piece?

I have decided that I will not be able to capture these images for a number of reasons. First the photoshoot will be very time consuming and hard to set up. This is because these fabrics will be very hard to hang up and set up in a moderately short time to ensure I capture these images. As well as that I believe that this idea does not fully go with my artists and their ideas as it's not so simple and eye-catching its more bold and big which does not relate to my artist's that I have developed my work with throughout my portfolio.

Idea 3 - Experimenting with Composition

For this idea I decided to go for something fairly simple yet very eye catching. This is because all 3 of my studied and focused artists have very simplistic yet striking images and works. For this 3rd and final idea for my Final piece I had came up with making simple compositions to make my images pop out and shine with each other. This idea fairly does match my artists as they look and work with the simplicity of the images themselves
