Experimenting with MDF boards

How it was done?

For my second idea of my final piece I decided to experiment using MDF boards, doing this I can show ,my developments of my linked photographs of Jasper James, Daniella Zalcman and Idris Khan's work combined as one selection. This means that whilst editing the photographs, I made sure that I do something linked with all 3 artists. I created a board with the images, this was done by editing the image like I would edit other photographs then printing them out. I made sure that the photograph were the same size with the MDF board which was A5. I started off by painting the background black then once it dried out I added small strokes of brushes of white paint over the black paint to make the board look more vintage and give it a crumpled look affect. Once the board dried out, I added mod podge over the printed photograph and the board. After doing this I made sure that there were no bumps within the image and board, I gave it some time to sit and blend in with the board, which took about a day. Once this was done, I used a sponge and water to scrape off the paper. After this was done, the results of what was shown on the board is an image printed onto the MDF board. This was done 3 times with 3 different edits.
