FINAL PIECE PLAN / IDEAS

'' I started working with the  body in 1989; at the beginning my work tended to draw on the autobiographical I decided to use my body as a way to reconstruct personal experiences--through photography and video--as well as cultural and social symbols. At present, I'm still working with the body but concentrating less on my own experiences. I explore the corporeal as a map that I can relate to concepts as different as identity, memory, territory and time.'' -

"Picasso's space drawings are patterns traced in space with a flashlight which is held as a pencil in hand. As distinct from the usual pencil to paper drawing they are executed with more of a bodily rather than the normal arm and wrist movement. Six such 'space drawings' which were photographed in a blackened room so that only the light pattern would register on the film are on view.'' Mili's complex work is not merely a product of his spectacular talents , it is also a reflection of his culture and background.''

I captured this photoshoot with low key lighting , and used a box light to reflect the flowers I also used. I thought this was really effective as it almost concluded all my artists into one photoshoot. I would like to chose 3 of my best images and use them for final piece , which would be getting frames and using the images for it. I will be making these images black and white as mainly Man Ray and Erwin Blumenfeld have captured with black and white. I think these images would be work bet with frames as they although they are simple, they are also captivating and eye-catching to see, therefore this would work best rather than collage or a more hand (physical)final piece. My favourite images is definitely the first row as it is unique and sophisticated in terms of the use of colours and how the light reflected on my face

Furthermore, I will use photoshop to make the images black and white and more vivid. I will adjust the contrast and decrease the curve and also burn the background so there is negative space around my face . I captured these images without using different camera angles so the focus is just on my face. In addition, I encapsulated the image at a portrait to again make sure my whole face is on the image. I would like to experiment with many different techniques such as mirroring , inverted graph (which is edited my make the graph a straight line causing the image to go all white ,then dragging it down to create these really x-ray themed images). I used a higher ISO for

BLACK AND WHITE DEVELOPMENTS:

Firstly I used adobe photoshop to make these images an encapsulating image of black and white by adjusting the curve and contrast. I think the use of making it black and white has caused the reflection of the flowers to really stand out. I really like the style in which I captured this photoshoot and I might use 3 of these to apply to my frames for my A04 , final piece. I wanted there to be negative space so made sure the background was fully black so parts of the image would have brighter patches. These developments really evoke an ominous tone and I would like to use this for my final piece as it would successfully conclude all three artists.

This is my further developments which consists of image blending in which I used adobe photoshop to edit. Firstly I made the  image black and white adjusting the contrast and curve to make it really vivid. Next, I draw the image with the quick select tool and copy and paste (by pressing CTRL-C, CTRL-V) .Lastly I change the filter to soft light to make the image blend evident and natural. What I dislike about these developments is that it really contrasts with the previous developments and came out more light (which really went against the theme I was going for which was dark and ambitious). However, next time I would like to experiment with the inverted graph which although produces a lighter image it still concludes with the style of all 3 artists.

FURTHER DEVELOPMENTS: INVERTED GRAPH

These are my further developments which consists of the inverted graph  and is another favourite of mine as it is really similar to one of Erwin Blumenfeld's famous pieces. Furthermore I used adobe photoshop to edit these by firstly making the image black and white (adjusting the contrast and curve to make it really vivid) then I get the curve and drag the line up making it a straight line and causing the image to be all white . Lastly I drag the it down from the middle to create these x-ray themed images. This technique really bring out the texture and graininess of the flowers as viewers are able to closely look at the crisp of the flowers.  However my least favourite image is the first one on the last row as it lacks alot of the black and background causing me to be mostly white whereas the others have a unique mix of the white and black.

INVERTED GRAPH : MIRRORING

My last set of developments consists of enhancing the previous developments into mirroring by using adobe photoshop. Firstly ,I extend the canvas , then I draw the image with the quick select tool (pressing - CTRL-C, CTRL- V) to copy and paste then I rotate the image to leave a more encapsulating finish to the images. My favourite development is the first one on the last row as I admire how the the texture is really evident; however my least favourite development is the last one as my face is only white and I feel that using the flowers could of have really made the image more encapsulating.

FINAL PIECE FRAMED IMAGES: COMPOSITION

FINAL PIECE COMPOSITION.jpg
FINAL PIECE PHOTOSHOOT 2.jpg
FINAL PIECE PHOTOSHOOT CONTACT SHEET II.jpg

I captured a new shoot which was quite similar to my previous however i covered my face with blanket to make the theme of the images quite ambiguous and unique. I also used dead flowers while using a flash to reflect the flowers on to

the fabric to create a captivating effect. I would like to experiment with a simple black and white as the images is already quite encapsulating. I think these successfully conclude my last three artists  and link well. I used low key lighting for this shoot therefore i would like to explore negative space throughout my developments. I used the same camera angle for each picture as i want to show a consistent transition of the style of my images to my viewers instead of zooming in and out at random points.

BLACK AND WHITE DEVELOPMENTS

These are my final black and white edits that I used adobe photoshop to edit. Firstly I adjusted the contrast and curve to make the image really vivid. Furthermore these developments also evoke an ominous tone as we can. see this from the fabric covering the face. I also like how it emphasised the reflection of the flowers from increasing the contrast. I think that this could be a successful factor to consider when

FURTHER DEVELOPMENTS :MIRRORING

These are my further developments that consist of mirroring, in which I used adobe photoshop to edit. Firstly I extended the canvas , then I drew the original image with the quick select tool (pressing CTRL-C, CTRL-V and CTRL-T to rotate it upside down.  I really like this technique as it demonstrates how captivating the image would be from looking at it at another perspective and angle (in this case upside down), furthermore it is almost portrays the composition of my work and the consistency therefore making it a successful factor of part of my final piece.  Lastly I would like to experiment with different filters to apply to these developments , this is to not be repetitive with the black and white and instead viewing the work with more colours.
