CONCEPTS:
lighting: exploring light and exposure in photography and express how lighting contrasts with the subjects. artist one focuses on long exposure, capturing movement of the subject through light, artist two focuses on natural lighting whilst artist three focuses on artificial lighting.
black and white ( colour ): artists explore black and white photography and use of lack of colour. artist two uses colour however exploring with dull and less saturated tints.
collage: all three artists' express and display their work using themes of collage, artist two and three use polaroid film, playing with collages to display their work.
highlighting success:

my most successful developments were from my first and second elena oganesyan photoshoots. these were the developments for my first chosen artist who experimented with long exposure photography. this is mainly why i want to focus on the theme and technique of elena oganesyan for my final piece work because it came out the most ideal to me. i will be using these photographs for me to experiment with my final piece ideas, however, i plan to take a whole new photoshoot similar to this one for my actual final piece outcome. for the photoshoots i was experimenting with long exposure photography and black and white images. for me, this photographs came out to be the most ideal. for all my photographs, i had a plain background. for my first and fourth developments, i blurred out the face using the spot healing brush tool in photoshop. i think that this made the photo graphs turn out successful as the photo graphs were plain and simple and the effect made the development turn out more ideal. for my second development, using long exposure, i moved my hands in front of my face so that the camera could capture the motion in the picture. i think that this was one of the techniques that turned out to be successful during my photoshoot as it captured the movement and ling exposure ideally. for my third development, the photograph did not appear to be successful and was overall really plain, and failed to capture the movement ideally in the photograph. however, using photoshop, i copied the image and flipped it so that it created kind of a mirror effect. this turned out successful and made the photo graph less plain and overall made it better. similar to my second development, my fifth and sixth development turned out to be successful as well because the long exposure was ideal and captured the movement of the person in the images ideally.

my plan for my final piece is to combine experimental photography ( artist 3 ) , with lighting and long exposure ( artist 1 ), using tints of colour in my photographs ( artist 2 ), and displaying my images with polaroid film ( artist 2 ), playing with themes of collage. i plan to frame my final piece that will consist of three photographs by creating a series of small polaroid images that put together to make a big photograph.
the background will generally be plain and white as i do not want to draw to much attention to it. for my first artist, i focused on keeping the background white. there will not be any specific setting, besides the plain background as i want to image to stand out more. the lighting will stick to natural lighting as this is what i have followed for most of my photoshoots and turned out to be the most successful. the lighting wont be too dim but also not too bright that the photograph will appear overexposed.
i want to focus on portrait photography as that has been my main focus, and i don't plan to have any specific props in the photoshoot, as i want to keep in plain so that when editing, i can successfully follow the style and technique of my third artist, who explored with experimental photography. the camera angle will be facing upright and facing directly towards the person in the photoshoot. the camera will not be too far away from the person, however i don't plan to capture the whole person in the image, i plan to just capture around above the neck. this is because i had followed this for my previous artists.
how will i execute my final piece? ( photoshoot plan )
background and lighting
pose / style and camera angle
how will i mix the artists? ( inspirations )
for my final piece, i plan to mainly focus on the techniques and style of elena oganesyan. the ideas will be a mix all all three of my artists but generally elena oganesyan as i enjoyed it the most and i think that my developments for that artist turned out the be the most successful. for my final piece, i wanted to experiment with double exposure by layering, and explore more with long exposure. i followed the technique of long exposure for my first artist, elena oganesyan, which i found to be the most enjoyable and overall successful pieces of developments for me.
photoshoot plan:

idea 1 - : exploring themes of collage / framing:

my plan was to create a border along my photographs to have a simple frame for them however i think that this turned out to be really effective and match the theme that i am going for. i use the burn tool on each individual photograph and went over the sides of the photograph until they turned pitch black. some areas were not straight and made the photograph turn out to look somewhat burnt along the sides which i think was a generally successful area of the developments. i copied this burn effect and pasted it onto all my other photographs to make the framing look identical. after this i decided to add a slightly coloured filter to make the photographs more effective, this created an old effect that i think turned out to be ideal for my developments. i also added the dust and lines on the photograph that made the photographs look old, by using a filter and copying it for all my developments. i think this overall idea turned out to be really successful and ideal, turning out less plain than i thought it would appear.
idea 2 - experimenting with film :

for my final piece, i plan to mainly focus on the techniques and style of elena oganesyan. the ideas will be a mix all all three of my artists but generally elena oganesyan as i enjoyed it the most and i think that my developments for that artist turned out the be the most successful. for my final piece, i wanted to experiment with double exposure by layering, and explore more with long exposure. i followed the technique of long exposure for my first artist, elena oganesyan, which i found to be the most enjoyable and overall successful pieces of developments for me. film and polaroid's are something that i explored in my second artist, francesca woodman, to experiment with themes of collage. i found this to be really enjoyable and overall adds more after affect to my developments. my first idea contained a set of three photographs and edited to look printed out onto film. the photographs also look slightly distorted with the red colour added to them aswell i think this turned out to be successful as it captured the mood and theme i was going for , making the photograph seem older and moree worn out, but it also plays with themes of collage which i think turned out to be ideal.
my second idea for exploring themes of collage and film / polaroid was to create something similar to a vhs movie tape. the film isnt actually real, but i edited on the photographs to the fake movie tape to make it look like it was real. i would say this somewhat turned out to be successful, i think mostly because for elena oganesyan, her work explores techniques like long exposure. due to the use of long exposure, it captured the movement in the camera onto the photograph so the motion in the photographs fit with the movie tape because it looks like the photograph is moving. also, vhs tape are kind of old and adds on to the effect of the photographs to create an old, worn out effect.

idea 3 - double exposure :
for my third idea for my final piece, i wanted to experiment with double exposure, taking all my developments from my photoshoot, i layer them onto each other then merge the two layers, before merging the two layers, i made the top layer darker by decreasing the exposure. this made the layer appear like a shadow effect and stood out more between the two layers, which i think was a successful area of the further development. it was a simple further development but it made a huge difference and effect that i planned for. i also think that it was successful because it made the top layer stand out more clearly because of the motion blur and long exposure used originally for the photoshoot. i think that this is one of my more successful ideas and i plan to focus on this for my final piece outcome because it ideally focuses on the concept of hidden identity with the shadow - like effect and exemplifies onto that strange and surreal mood and theme i was going for.
